EIRCODE - THE SMART ADDRESS POSTCODE
Like postcodes in the UK, Eircodes are Ireland's solution to providing a further level of accuracy in locating home and business addresses.
The Eircode system enables people and businesses to find any registered address in Ireland. A significant proportion of homes and businesses in Ireland share their address with at least one other property, making it difficult for those delivering goods and services to accurately identify the location of an address. This can be the case with individual flats and apartments in a building, or shared office and business spaces. Eircode has been designed specifically to overcome this problem. Unlike other countries where postcodes define a geographically connected group of addresses, a unique Eircode is assigned to each residential and business address.
The Eircode Finder can be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone. The Eircode Finder will also be able to identify the address on a map, aiding the user with directions if needed. This tool is available to the general public free of charge, limited to a maximum of 15 searches per day.
